Long Time No Wattle Cottage Update

Just the other day I was reading back through my archives and I realised it has been so long since I have shared a Wattle Cottage update!

The last update was back in early January when the kitchen still looked like this...

I would be lying if I told you nothing has happened because truthfully, lots has!

We have had some more painting done so now the whole kitchen/dining room and laundry room have all been painted. We have also got the lino ripped up through the main living and hallway areas. Unfortunately when the lino was laid it was also glued, and proved a challenge to rip up! There are still a few parts that we couldn't manage to rip up that we will use a heat torch on (I'll keep you posted as to how it goes).

So this is what the room looks like now (please excuse the bad quality photo and the mess!)

And across the other side of the room...

As you can see, we still have to paint the skirting boards but I'm so happy with the progress! There's something about an empty room painted white that makes me happy :) And I love the smell of fresh paint! It all feels so new!

I am getting so excited about the decorating now (after all... it's my favourite part!) We just have to finish the painting and lay the new lino (we're hoping for a white floorboard look). Until then, here's what's inspiring me for that big blank wall you can see in the photo above.

Wouldn't a huge world map just make the best feature wall? And it would be very fitting because the cottage will be used mainly as accommodation for our overseas backpackers and they could pin where they come from!

I can't wait until this part of the project... we've taken a long time to get here so to be so close is utterly exciting!
