2012 in a Nutshell

Tomorrow marks the start of a new year. Of 2013!

2012 has been a great year for me. I have loved being able to be home with my family instead of living away for my schooling (that will unfortunately change in 2013), I have loved becoming part of the blogging world and starting my own blog and I have loved helping out at the primary school three days a week. It has been awesome.

Here's a look back on the exciting things that happened for me in 2012!

January

We had puppies! 6 cute puppies. They were a weird cross (border collie/keplie cross maltese shitzu/toypoodle), oops! but still very cute :)

Every January we head down to the south coast at Bremer Bay for 2 weeks of beach, sun and fun! This year didn't disappoint...

I got Pinterest! And it was back in the good old days when you need an invitation to get in :) It is now one of my favourite websites (along with Facebook, Instagram and Blogger).

February

I started this blog... with no idea whatsoever about what would be in store for me! It has been such a great experience and I am so thankful to have my blog and be part of the amazing blogging community!

March

It was my birthday! It happens every year, but hey, it's still exciting!

We got some serious painting done over at Wattle Cottage thanks to some amazing painters (Virginie and Guillaume). We painted the entryway and the living room.

April

The painting over at Wattle Cottage continued into April and we got two bedrooms painted as well!

The West Arthur YAC (which I am part of) held a Youth Festival. We had been planning it for quite some time, so it was great to see it all come together in a fun filled day.

May

I went to Canberra! because West Arthur was the WA winner of the Tidy Towns Awards 2011 and I am on the committee. It was fantastic! I would go back any day. And I also got to shake hands with Quentin Bryce, the Governor General...

June

It had been a long time coming, but we finally got our two 8x8m patios out the front of our house put up.

July

I started posting on the blog again after a few months in recess, and this time for real!

We went for a short family holiday (4/5 days) by the sea at Busselton. It was lots of fun and the days were spent walking the Busselton Jetty (longest jetty in the Southern Hemisphere), getting lost in the Yallingup Maze, watching movies and lots of bike riding!

August

September

Our family headed off in the direction of Yealering, a small town pretty much in the middle of nowhere, for a camping weekend. It was the first family camping weekend (in Australia) for 10 years! (True that, because we found a newspaper in the camping box dated 2001). It was great fun and I can truly recommend Yealering (we were the only ones in the caravan park).

We tried our hands at wallpapering for the first time to create a feature wall in one of the bedrooms at Wattle Cottage (and we weren't too bad!)

October

It was a big month blog wise... I got featured on Hubby Made Me, got Facebook for the blog, reached the most pageviews in a month that I ever have so far, wrote the most posts in a month that I ever have so far and particpated in the Photo A Day challenge by Fat Mum Slim, as well as Package Pals by C.R.A.F.T.

We demolished the kitchen in Wattle Cottage! It was a sign of progress but a little bit sad too...

 November

We (finally) got the floors poured in our patios that were put up in early June

December

I lived past the 21st of December 2012 (thankfully!)

It was Christmas and there were lots of different celebrations going on, all which make for a great festive season for 2012.

All in all, 2012 was a fantastic year and I wish you all the best for 2013!

  2. Such a big year Sophie!! I'm so envious that you got to meet Quentin Bryce, she is such an Aussie style icon. I can only dream of being half as elegant as she is :)

I hope you have a great time at your new school and can keep up the blogging while you're there.

    xx
